Tips During a Shoot

  • Check computer desktop if sharing your screen 
  • Turn off computer notifications, warnings and interactions
  • Record 10 seconds of room silence. This can be used to remove noise later
  • Stop and restart if you need to, just pick up from a few sentences back so we can edit it later
  • Speak at at good pace - 150 to 185 words per minute - be sure not to talk to fast
  • Speak conversationally - Do not read your slides word for word 
  • Make eye contact with the camera - look directly at the camera, not at your computer screen
  • Speak to the user directly 
  • Try to limit your movements - you can use your hands, but swaying or rocking can be distracting
  • Share your enthusiasm for the topic, by being animated and passionate and most of all by being yourself
  • SMILE - before you begin the video and throughout… smile with your eyes to remember 
  • Greet the audience to the talk and also thank them at the end
  • Drink water while you record to avoid dry lips
  • Do not record when you’re sick. People can hear sniffing
  • Do not play with pens, bottle tops etc
