How do my students access my handouts?
You may use printed materials in your in-person course that need to be distributed digitally when you transition to online instruction. The following is a guide to getting your printed materials online:
Printed readings and information
- Your handouts will need to be in digital format to get them online. PDF files are ideal, but other files such as images or Word docs can also be put online.
- If you only have printed versions of your handouts then you will need to convert them to digital format by scanning them or taking photos of them. If you have lots of printed material to digitize then be sure to allot sufficient time for this.
- You will use the Canvas Files feature to distribute your handouts to students. The basic process is to set up your folder structure, upload your files, then link to those files in other pages for students to download them.

Printed worksheets
- As with handouts, your printed worksheets will need to be in digital format to get them online. But they will also need to editable for students to use them. A Word doc should work fine if you format it so that students have the space needed to enter their responses. A PDF Form would also work.
