J. Paul Leigh, PhD

J. Paul Leigh is Professor of Public Health Sciences at the University of California, Davis. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His fields of expertise are health and labor economics as well as econometrics. In recent years Dr. Leigh has written papers on tobit regression, instrumental variables, and attrition bias that attempt to popularize econometric techniques for research physicians and epidemiologists. He has also written papers that estimate the costs of occupational injuries and illnesses as well as costs of hepatitis C. Additional research interests include cost-effectiveness of ultrasound versus computerized tomography (CT scan).
